Company Profile: The Association

Locations | Board of Directors | About the Farm Credit System

Puerto Rico Farm Credit (the Association) is part of the nationwide Farm Credit System. We have been in Puerto Rico since 1922 operating as a client-owned financial services cooperative.

Unlike commercial banks, the Association's cooperative structure means that when dividends are declared from profits they are paid back to the client-owners who generated the profits. These dividends significantly reduce the total cost of borrowing. For those customers who are residents of Puerto Rico the dividends are exempt from local income tax. During the five years prior to 2008, the Association's Board of Directors declared $13.95 million in dividends. Please click here for detailed information on our Dividend Programs.

Association's primary function is to provide long-term, intermediate-term and short-term loans for: (Click here for more information on our Products & Services.)

* Land and farm acquisition

* Construction and farm improvements

* Machinery and livestock

* Production and crop needs

* Marketing and processing

The Association makes loans to eligible farmers, full-time or part-time. We are very aware of the special needs of young, beginning and small farmers and offer special programs to these borrowers. We also have lending programs for clients who desire to make rural living and farming a life-style choice.

The Association's team of bilingual professionals has the experience and knowledge to assist you in fulfilling your financial needs. We not only know, but understand agriculture and rural country living in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico Farm Credit is operated and owned by local people you know and can trust.
